Hennepin Healthcare stabilization

In a move to safeguard the future of Hennepin Healthcare, the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners dissolved the Hennepin Healthcare System Board in August 2025. This action came in response to a mounting financial crisis threatening the long-term viability of the county’s flagship public hospital and safety-net health system.

The resolution enabled the County Board to assume direct oversight of Hennepin Healthcare System governance during this critical period. The goal is to stabilize operations, preserve essential services, and ensure continued access to care for the county’s most vulnerable residents.
