Human Resources Board


The Human resources board:

  • Establishes rules for the classified service, subject to Hennepin County Board approval.
  • Makes investigations pursuant to the Human Resources Act (Chapter 382B) or the Human Resources Rules.

Members of the public and local officials can be appointed to serve on this board.

Structure

There are 7 members, appointed by the County Board.

Eligibility

A member must:

  • Not be a public official or candidate for public office.
  • Not be a Hennepin County employee or within 1 year of becoming an employee.
  • Not hold a position in a political party, except as a delegate.
  • Reside in Hennepin County and forfeit the office if the member becomes a non-resident.

Term

Four years.

Meetings

The board meets for regular and other meetings an average of 8 times a year.

Regular board meetings are at 1 p.m. on the 1st Wednesday of each month for about an hour.

Compensation

  • Maximum of $50 per day for board meetings and other activities.
  • Parking is provided.
  • Mileage is reimbursed.

  • Created by Laws of Minnesota 1965, chapter 855m section 2.
  • Amended by Minnesota Statutes 383B.26 and 383B.42 in 1994.
