Public assistance fraud prevention

An accurate and truthful application is the best way to ensure eligibility for services and allows us to fully understand a person's needs. Dishonesty can harm future applications for supports.

Consequences of fraud may include criminal prosecution or disqualification from public assistance benefits. Additionally, the county may seek repayment of fraudulently received funds.

We want eligible residents to receive vital supports. Preventing fraud helps preserve county resources and opportunities for people who are in immediate need.

Report fraud

Contact us anonymously if you suspect abuse of public benefits programs, including cash, food support, medical and child care assistance.

You may also submit an online fraud reporting form to share your concerns with Hennepin County's fraud prevention team.
