Grants and funding opportunities

Apartment and condo recycling grants


We provide funding, resources and assistance for apartment and condos to start or improve programs to divert recyclables and/or organics.

Areas of focus can include:

  • Purchasing bins and compostable bags
  • Paying for hauling costs
  • Constructing waste enclosures or chutes
  • Managing or preventing the waste of bulky items
  • Educating residents.

Available funds

There are no current funds available.

Eligible applicants

Multifamily properties in Hennepin County with five or more units that have shared waste collection service and are not part of their city's curbside collection service.

Applications should have the approval of an authorizing person who can enter into agreements with Hennepin County, such as but not limited to property owners, managers, and association board directors.

We can help you assess your best options, review potential costs and savings, and determine the steps forward to improve your programs. Free assistance can be provided online or in-person.
