France Avenue improvements

Hennepin County is improving France Avenue (County Road 17) between 44th and 51st Street, along the border of Edina and Minneapolis. We'll update and improve the pedestrian ramps at several intersections, and repave France Avenue with fresh asphalt for a smoother and more comfortable road.

Timeline

May 11 – June 19

• We’ll reconstruct curb ramps at the intersections of France Avenue and 51st, Market, 49th, 48th, 46th, 45th, and Sunnyside.
• Crews will work on the west side of France Avenue first, then switch to the east side.

July 13-17

• We’ll repave France Avenue between 44th to 51st streets.
• Expect intermittent single lane closure when paving crews are on-site.

Note: Since the intersections at 50th and 47th streets were recently updated, they won’t be impacted by this project.

Walking and rolling

We will provide temporary pathways around any active construction areas.

Transit

Some transit stops may be temporarily relocated. For information, contact Metro Transit or visit the rider alerts website.

Driving or biking

Lanes will generally remain open except during some paving work, which is completed one block at a time. Be alert for signs and crews on site to help direct you in work areas.
