Roads and bridges
Hemlock intersection improvements
We're improving the intersection of Hemlock Lane (County Road 61) and Elm Creek Boulevard (County Road 130) in Maple Grove to make it safer and more comfortable for all the people who use it.
While we are reconstructing the roadway, you can still visit the area. We will keep you updated about how to travel in and around the area.

Construction updates
August 3 – mid-November
The intersection of Hemlock Lane and Elm Creek Boulevard is under construction. Plan ahead, be alert for lane closures, and allow extra time. Consider an alternative route when possible.
Walking and biking
You will be able to cross, but at times you may be routed around construction areas for safety.
Driving
You will be able to use both roads in both directions and make all turns, but several lanes will be closed. The work areas and traffic patterns will frequently shift.
About the project
The intersection of Hemlock Lane and Elm Creek Boulevard is in the heart of Arbor Lakes area of Maple Grove.
Both Hemlock Lane and Elm Creek Boulevard carry multiple traffic lanes in each direction, with a mix of signalized and free turning lanes. It can be difficult to cross this very wide intersection. The improvements will make it safer and easier for all the people who drive, walk, bike, and roll in this area.
Planned improvements
When this project is completed in November, the updated intersection will be safer and more comfortable for everyone who uses it.
- Shorter crossing distances and safer routes for people who walk, bike, and roll
- Redesigned lanes to narrow the intersection, calm traffic, reduce vehicle speeds, and decrease rear-end crashes
- Reconstructed curb ramps that follow the guidance of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Updated crossing signals with accessible pedestrian signals (APS)
- No reduction of lanes on the east, south, or west sides of the intersection. The north side will be reduced by one lane.
