Pioneer Trail safety improvements
Hennepin County will repave the roadway and replace or line culverts in poor condition on Pioneer Trail (County Road 123) between Woodland Trail (County Road 10) and 109th Avenue (County Road 19). We will also replace the existing bypass lane at Settlers Lane with a dedicated left turn lane.
Construction updates
Dates are tentative and subject to change.
August 20 through fall
Pioneer Trail will be closed to through traffic in both directions between Woodland Trail and 109th Avenue.
Using Pioneer Trail during construction
You can expect short-term road closures and lane closures as we replace culverts and repave Pioneer Trail.
Local access
If your home is directly in the project area, you will still be able to access your entrance. Contact the project team with any specific concerns.
Driving
If you drive, you can use Woodland Trail, Lake Independence Regional Trail (County Road 19), and 109th Avenue as a detour route to travel around the project area.

About the project
When this project is complete, people will notice a smoother and safer road for everyone that uses it. The new/repaired culverts will also help prevent flooding and erosion.
